[third person] Bob Tarantino is an entertainment lawyer and freelance writer who lives in Toronto. Jack White once said that when he walks into a room he wants to be the best guitarist in there - so there's a lot of rooms he doesn't walk into. That's the guiding sentiment behind this iteration of this blog - it aspires to be the best blog about entertainment law, IP law, Bob Tarantino's freelance writing career and whatever else strikes his fancy from time to time, all as written by Bob Tarantino. Thankfully, competition is likely to be slim.
Bob has an LL.B. and an LL.M. (focusing on intellectual property law) from Osgoode Hall Law School. After practicing corporate law with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City he joined Heenan Blaikie LLP in 2001 and is a member of the firm's Entertainment Law Group. He is a past vice-chair of the Ontario Bar Association's Entertainment, Media & Communications Section.
Bob's academic writing interests include entertainment law, copyright law, the changing nature and future of the legal profession, and the role of the judiciary in pluralist liberal democracies. His non-legal writing interests cover pretty much everything else. His freelance writing has appeared in publications such as the National Post, this magazine and the Canadian Bar Association's PracticeLink online member resource.
The ramblings contained on this blog do not in any way represent the views of Bob's employer, colleagues or clients - which is as it should be, since so far as Bob is aware, no one he knows ever agrees with him about anything anyway (least of all his (impeccable - ed.) musical tastes).
